Role Type: Information Technology

The Database Administrator position is within Prolink's Information Technology Department and is responsible for the design, implementation, operation, and maintenance of all aspects of the firm-wide database infrastructure. This includes but is not limited to design, standardization, security, replication, and backup/recovery strategy. This role acts as a Technical Reference User for other designated applications to ensure that the Firm is fully leveraging tools within its applications portfolio.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Design & Develop

  • Provides design, planning, configuration, documentation, deployment, and support ownership of the firm’s SQL Server/Linux infrastructure.  
  • Develop tools for collaborative information sharing
  • Installs, manages, and customizes server configurations of Commercial Off –the-Shelf (COTS) software to achieve mission performance requirements by providing quality work
  • Recommend software solutions to meet end user and IT needs
  • Support recommendations and plans for software development and operations and software purchases
  • Provide support to end users in the selection, procurement, usage, and maintenance of software applications

Collaboration  

  • Acts as a subject matter expert for other assigned database/server, frequently working with Business Reference User(s) to understand how applications are used at the firm.  
  • Participates in cross-functional team projects to implement new or updated technology.
  • Creates estimates for project completion based on user requirements
  • Work with software vendor to analyze and resolve software installation and on-going support issues of end users
  • Consult with internal departments to identify customer needs and include into project objectives
  • Communicate effectively and efficiently with all stakeholders
  • Assists with resolution of escalated incidents and participates in problem management activities.  
  • Provide after-hours support, if/when the need arises

Implement

  • Performs application deployments, upgrades, and patch planning.
  • Assists in maintaining a testing environment for development.  
  • Support Cyber Security compliance and audit preparation in coordination with the Cyber Security Team
  • Apply software updates and patches
  • Perform work according to Software Quality Assurance policies and procedures  

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Familiarity with database queries
  • Knowledge of database design and theories
  • Ability to work with data architects and other IT specialists to set up, maintain and monitor data networks
  • Knowledge of database structure languages, such as SQL or SQL/PSM
  • Experience with server installation and maintenance
  • Familiarity with database management best practices
  • Knowledge of IT security best practices
  • Experience with a variety of computer information systems
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Problem-solving and critical thinking
  • Ability to explain complex ideas in simple terms
  • Good multitasking abilities

MINIMUM POSITION QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION

  • 6+ Years of Experience in a related field
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related Information Technology field
  • Experience with Microsoft SQL Server database management, Azure Cloud Server, Snowflake Data Warehouse
  • Displays professionalism, quality service and a "can do" attitude to internal members/departments of the Firm as well as external clients and vendors via electronic and print correspondence, over the telephone and in-person.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATION  

  • Microsoft Certification preferred
