The Payroll Tax Manager is a part of the ProLink Payroll team. This role will oversee a team of Payroll Tax Specialist to ensure payroll taxes are completed accurately and timely. The Payroll Tax manager will collaborate with our third-party vendor on payroll tax filings. This position will all provide reports to update leaders on payroll tax filing process and risk assessments. The payroll tax manager will provide education leaders on local payroll tax regulations and potential risk assessments.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Maintain oversight of all payroll tax related activities to include periodic, monthly, quarterly, and annual tax payments and filings
  • Timely amendment processing and filing
  • Manage timely tax registrations, third party authorizations, and other state maintenance  
  • Review tax returns prepared by ADP for accuracy
  • Oversee and manage the reconciliation of data across technical systems
  • Collaborate with third party vendor for filing and paying withholding, unemployment, and  miscellaneous employment taxes using ADP platform.  
  • Collaborate with third party to processes W-2's, including corrections (W-2c) and amended returns
  • Updates unemployment tax rates in payroll systems for all companies individually filed
  • Applies for employment tax accounts and online filing as needed
  • Researches and responds to tax agency notices in a timely fashion
  • Oversee a team of Payroll Tax Specialist to ensure accuracy of payroll tax filings.
  • Skills assessment of the team
  • Understand to responsibilities of the team wholistically to identify new roles needed to execute the work
  • Training and development for technical platforms to support daily work
  • Review and evaluate filing processes and files to identify potential risks
  • Ensure world class service for escalated tax-related issues
  • Perform UAT for tax updates and system configurations  
  • Prepare and communicate status reports to include KPI's and risk Working with Ensure timely filing of W2's at year end
  • The Payroll Tax Manager serves as a resource to the payroll processing departments, sales, and other internal departments
  • Collaborate with Talent Management Teams and Training and Development teams to create roles needed to execute the work of the team and train team members for success

Minimum Position Qualifications / Education

  • Bachelor's degree in tax, business, or related discipline or equivalent experience
  • 2+ years of ADP Smart Compliance experience
  • 2+ years of Workday Payroll experience
  • 1-2 years of people management experience multi-state payroll experience Strong analytical skills  
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel  

Preferred Qualifications / Experience

  • Staffing Industry experience
  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification preferred
