Overview
The Telemetry Technician monitors cardiac telemetry systems to detect heart rhythm abnormalities in hospitalized patients. This role requires constant vigilance in observing multiple cardiac monitors and alerting nursing staff to critical changes. The ideal candidate will have expertise in cardiac monitoring, ECG interpretation, and medical terminology, with experience in hospital telemetry or cardiac care settings.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor multiple cardiac telemetry screens continuously for rhythm abnormalities.
- Recognize and report arrhythmias, ST-segment changes, and other cardiac events.
- Communicate critical findings immediately to nursing and medical staff.
- Document cardiac events and rhythm changes in EHR systems like Epic.
- Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting of telemetry equipment.
- Manage inventory of telemetry supplies including electrodes and batteries.
