Prolink is proud to recognize three nurses with the DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nursing, an international program that recognizes the clinical skill and compassionate care that nurses deliver every day. As a DAISY Foundation partner, Prolink celebrates nurses who are performing extraordinary acts of service in facilities across the country.
Prolink’s first three DAISY Award recipients are:
• Laura Bethel, BSN, RN, progressive care unit (PCU) nurse
• Louis Fabrizi, BSN, RN, a neuroscience intensive care unit (NSICU) nurse
• Senait Kirkos, BSN, RN, a PCU nurse, who was awarded during her first contract with Prolink.
Each honoree received an award certificate, a DAISY Award pin, and a hand-carved Healer’s Touch stone sculpture during her recognition ceremony. In addition, their units enjoyed Cinnabon® cinnamon rolls — a favorite of J. Patrick Barnes’ during his illness. The DAISY Foundation and DAISY Award were established in his memory.
“We are so proud to count Laura, Louis, and Senait as part of the Prolink Family and welcome the opportunity to name them DAISY winners,” said Natalie Jones, Senior Vice President of Clinical Practice and Innovation at Prolink. “All three demonstrate the characteristics of a DAISY Nurse with their professionalism, dedication, and kindness. Thank you, Laura, Louis, and Senait, for your superior patient care.”

Laura Bethel: “Laura worked really closely with me on Sunday to help prep the patient for a very unexpected Sunday discharge to hospice on a holiday. It was the patient’s wish to die at home. His daughter, a nurse practitioner, arranged for him to get enrolled in hospice. Laura had outstanding communication and was excellent with the family. I was so impressed. She went above and beyond to relay her concern and compassion to the family. The patient passed peacefully, with no pain or distress; his family surrounded him — able to grant his dying wish of being at home. They were extremely complimentary of the care he received.”
Louis Fabrizi: “A patient in the NSICU had wonderful things to say about Louis. He will sing “Mamma Mia” while drawing her blood because the patient is so anxious. She said if she has an anxiety attack, he will stay with her and talk her down. Louis can instantly make her smile and even bought a bottle of water for her when there was none left on the floor, because she doesn’t like tap water.”
Senait Kirkos: “As a float nurse, Senait took care of an oncology patient for three consecutive shifts. The care and rapport she built with the patient made a lasting impact on the patient and their family. Senait connected with the patient on a personal level and bonded over their similar aged children. The patient would routinely ask for nothing and state that she knew Senait was busy with other patients. Senait refused to listen to this and insisted that the patient would receive the best care. Unfortunately, the patient passed. Her husband stopped by and wanted to thank Senait personally for her care. We were able to connect the two and they had a wonderful conversation about the patient. The husband also stated that both his children wanted to send their thanks to Senait for giving their mother the best care.”
