You grew up near Boston but have been in Dallas for the past 6 years. What has been the most satisfying part of your move? What has been the biggest challenge?
I think the most satisfying part about moving here would have to be everyone that I’ve met. It was tough when I first moved here, but over the years I have made such great friends that I can’t imagine my life without. My closest friends have their families here and they’ve been so incredibly welcoming, I feel like part of their family too. Speaking of family! I think one of the biggest challenges would have to be the distance away from my own family. They live in North Carolina now, but it’s still a plane ride away. I always get jealous of my friends that can hop over to their parents’ home for Sunday dinner or just to say hi.
All-time favorite movie line, go. Why?
“Who spit in her bean curd?” I’ll be so surprised if anyone can guess where that line is from. But it’s said by the grandmother in the movie Mulan. Mulan is one of my favorite movies and I can quote all of it! The grandmother is a riot and just so blunt, I love it. I went through a phase where I watched Mulan on a weekly basis… all my friends hate me now.
If you had to pick one type of food to eat for the rest of your life, what would it be? why?
Pasta. 100% Pasta. It doesn’t matter what kind of pasta, I don’t discriminate, I love them all. I love Italian food in general, and I feel like almost everyone loves at least some kind of pasta, so it’s a good way to bring people together. I recently had a birthday and my friends got me a cake with pasta decorated on top of it! It’s a sick addiction… I know.
What would you say is the biggest misconception people have of you?
People think that because I’m such a girly girl, I know how to do makeup. I don’t at all! I just bought my first eye shadow pallet a few months ago and have only used it a handful of times. I still use the little pamphlet that shows you how to apply everything.
What would people be surprised to learn about you?
I don’t really like going to concerts. I guess I shouldn’t say I don’t like it, but it just doesn’t do anything for me. I love music and I have such a wide range of different music I listen to, but concerts just don’t do it for me for some reason! I also love flossing! I do it religiously and my dentist loves me for it.
What is something you get unreasonably excited about?
This is going to be weird but…gross things. I love watching the TV shows Dr. Pimple Popper and Botched. Popping pimples and peeling scabs or skin…I LOVE that stuff! I love watching surgery videos too. I always joke about how I should have been either a plastic surgeon or a dermatologist because of how interested I am in that kind of stuff.
It’s a summer day and you don’t have to work. Where will we find you?
Definitely the pool! Or a lake of some sort. Near water! As everyone knows, summers in Texas are hot... very hot. Pretty much the only way you can survive the summers is if you spend the day in a body of water. Water, music, friends, and a cold drink – a perfect summer day!
What is your favorite smell and why?
Everyone is going to think I’m crazy…but I love the smell of spray tan. I know, I know, everyone hates it, but there’s something about a fresh spray than that is just so satisfying!
