Prolink Gives Back with Ronald McDonald House Volunteer Event

May 28, 2024

Nurses Week represents more than an opportunity to recognize those in the nursing profession. It also gives nurses themselves a chance to honor the communities they serve. On Thursday, May 9, nurses from Prolink's internal team traveled to the Ronald McDonald House at Cincinnati Children's Hospital to volunteer and show their appreciation for the healthcare community.

Ranked #1 nationally by U.S. News & World Report, Cincinnati Children's brings world-class care to families in the Greater Cincinnati area that Prolink calls home. The Ronald McDonald House facility, home to 177 families in need on a nightly basis, was the perfect choice for Prolink's first official Nurses Week volunteer outing.

"At Prolink, we have always encouraged charitable donations and giving back during Nurses Month," said Alisha Ferguson, Program Manager of Clinical Retention Programs. "This year, we wanted to make an even bigger impact by getting out in the community and dedicating our time to a good cause."

The Prolink team painted the hallways on the fourth and fifth floors of the Ronald McDonald House. Volunteers were split into two teams, one per floor, and pushed themselves to cover as much ground as possible during their three hours of work.

"There was definitely a little friendly competition," Ferguson said. "We got closer as a team and did our part to help keep this amazing facility in great shape. It was a win-win."

"Serving the communities in which we live and work is what nursing is all about," said Lindsey Borgmann, Manager of Clinical Professional Development. "We got into this profession to serve others, and that includes dedicating time away from work to make a difference."
