| Responsibilities: | |
| As a Registered Respiratory Therapist on our team, you will deliver the best therapeutic, diagnostic, and life-support respiratory care procedures in general and intensive patient care areas, or home care environments. Assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care in order to achieve optimum outcomes for patients of all ages. Collaborate with members of the health care team/patient/ family to develop, implement, and evaluate an age-specific interdisciplinary plan of care. Manage resources, establish priorities, and modify environment to meet patient care needs. Provide input into practice, environment and work issues by participating in unit, hospital and/or organization activities that facilitate staff participation/input in decision-making. Functions as a role model for clinical practice to coworkers, students, and physicians. | |
| Must Haves: | |
| License: Licensed as a respiratory care practitioner by the VA State Board of Medicine. | |
| Certification: RRT certification by the National Board for Respiratory Care, BLS, ACLS required; PALS preferred. Will help obtain if not in hand. | |
| Experience: At least one year of ED respiratory experience | |
| Education: Associate’s degree from a CoARC (Committee on Accreditation of Respiratory Care Education) approved school of Resp. Therapy | |

| Number of Beds: | 85+ adult beds, 10 PEDs beds. Approx. 90,000 annual visits |
| Patient Population: | PEDS to Geriatric |
| Common Diagnoses: | Vent management (Triology, Vyaire - Transport Vent), V60 Bipap, RTs intubate and Extubate patient, Draw ABGs (ABG is run by the lab), RT will do breathing treatments), EPIC charting |
| Average # of cases per day/week: | 85 - 90 ppl in waiting room, 2 therapist in ER now will expand to 3 maybe 4. clinical team leaders, matrix 17 for adults side |
