The role of the RN First Assist will vary depending on the surgeon you are working with on a given day.
Responsibilities of the RN First Assist may include: performing preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative care, developing treatment plans in conjunction with the lead surgeons, assisting in postoperative management.
The RN First Assist will also be responsible for certain duties inside the operating room, including but not limited to using instruments and medical devices, providing surgical site exposure, handling and/or cutting tissue, providing hemostasis, suturing and wound management.
