If you regularly use email, social media, a cell, or even an old-fashioned landline, chances are you've run across a fishy message or two. It may have asked for your personal information, included a suspicious link, or even requested money through a payment service. With so much of our lives taking place online these days, it can be difficult to sort through what is and isn't a threat—and the recruiting world is no exception.
If you receive a suspicious text message from someone claiming to be a Prolink recruiter, use this handy guide to help verify their identity before you click any links or hand over any private info.
5 ways to identify a scam
1. Make sure they're on-brand.
We always refer to ourselves as Prolink. We no longer use ProLink (with a capital L), ProLink Staffing, ProLink Healthcare, etc. Any message that does should immediately raise a red flag.
We also never use WhatsApp to communicate with talent. Any message sent via WhatsApp or directing you there is a scam.
2. Already have a recruiter? Reach out.
If you're already working with us, reach out to your current recruiter for verification. They'll be able to tell you if it's legit.
3. Check for grammar, spelling, and unprofessional language.
This one is self-explanatory. While we’re all human and do sometimes make mistakes, we'll never send you a message with excessive errors or speak to you in an unprofessional manner.
4. Ask them to send you an email.
Emails from Prolink will always come from a @prolinkstaff.com address. If an email address looks suspicious, that's your cue to cut the convo short.
5. Avoid payment requests.
We'll never ask you for money, bank account information, or your username on a payment app. If someone asks you for any of the above, you can be certain it's not us.
I got a scam message, now what?
If you do run into a scam, please report it as soon as possible to scam@prolinkstaff.com. Reports sent to that email address will be reviewed by our IT department and handled appropriately.
