The Respiratory Therapist is responsible for the care of patients with breathing or cardiopulmonary disorders in a Long Term Acute Care setting.
They will interview and examine patients to diagnose lung and breathing disorders and recommend treatment. They are responsible for initiating, conducting and modifying diagnostic and therapeutic procedures on patients. The Respiratory Therapist is responsible for managing patient ventilators and artificial airway devices. They will also educate patients and families on diagnosis, treatment and recovery.
