Tell us a story from when you were a kid. It can be funny, stupid, warm and fuzzy, whatever. Just make it a good one.
I could write a novel with all the stories my siblings and I have, but I think one of my favorite stories is when we memorized the script to Annie the musical and made my mom sit through a 90-minute production AND film the entire thing. We each had multiple roles and it included singing, dancing and superb acting.
Which core value do you identify with most? Why?
Family First, hands down. My family at home is the most important part of my life. They’re the best support system I could ever ask for. My parents always taught us to treat everyone we come across like part of the family, so instilling this value into my everyday life at work has been important to me.
You were born in Albany, New York, but you basically toured the country until you were 14 and landed in Cincinnati. What was it like to live in so many different places throughout childhood, and how does that experience impact you today, particularly as a recruiter?
Living in so many places throughout childhood was tough but has made me who I am today! I am no stranger to sharing “fun facts” about myself or being the newest kid in school. Moving around so much gave me qualities that have impacted my recruiting career in the best way. My experiences have taught me to always be adaptable to any situation (good and bad) and to let things go as planned. My dad always told my three siblings and me: “Act like you fit in,” and to this day I go into every call, meeting, event, etc., with that mindset. It helps me feel more confident in the way I approach things.
You're in your mid-twenties. How and why have you made it to Disneyland 30 TIMES?
Ha! When I was little, we used to visit Disney at least once a year (sometimes more) and meet our grandparents or uncles and aunts down there. It became a yearly tradition for us, and I’m not ashamed to say that it’s still a fun place to go as a 24 year old. It brings back a lot of memories of growing up and experiencing something new every time we went back. Whether it was new rides or meeting characters, there was always something exciting. Now that we’re all older, we experience it in a completely different way. (Check out the alcoholic slushies in the France Pavilion in Epcot!)
You lived in Switzerland for a year. What brought you there, and can you tell us a few things about the Swiss that we might not know?
I lived in Switzerland all of 2017 to attend a graduate school program in hospitality management. It was a dream! I lived in the Swiss Alps in a small mountain town surrounded by Swiss chalets and attended school with students from 99 nationalities. There, I fell in love with human resources after studying and meeting several different recruiters who traveled the world for their companies. Switzerland is hands down the most beautiful country I’ve ever seen throughout my travels, but there are a lot of differences from the U.S.! I found out that you can’t make noise past 10 p.m. due to a “social law,” and doing so can result in a hefty fine—500 CHF! I’ve also never eaten so much cheese and chocolate before in my life!
Why should we go to Croatia?
Croatia is one of the coolest and most unique places I’ve ever visited! It has everything: sun, beach, seafood, historical sites, etc. It was also the cheapest country I’ve ever visited—I didn’t spend more than $200 the whole time we were there. A beer was around 13 Croatian kuna, which is around $2 USD. I recommend chartering a boat with a group and island hopping the whole day—it’s the coolest place!
What is a nerdy thing about you? What is it about this nerdy thing that sparks your interest?
I love history! People probably would never guess that about me. I’m currently reading These Truths by historian Jill Lepore and I couldn’t be more excited. Plop me in front of a historical documentary, especially World War II, and I won’t leave the seat. I definitely got this trait from my mom, who always visits historical sites with me on trips we take.
If you could live in any city in the world, which would it be? Why?
New York City, by far. Broadway, pizza/bagels, hustle and bustle…it’s the one place that will always feel like home no matter how long I’m away from it. There’s something to do and see every day!
